Does the metal bottom have anything to protect against scratches on a wood floor?
It does not, but peel and stick felt pads could easily be applied to the underside of the log bin.

If you are looking for a more rustic or traditional look to go with a nice stone fireplace, I recommend this model. The fact that everything is welded together (instead of using something like rivets) makes the whole thing feel like it could handle anything. It has a wonderfully old-time look to add to the décor of your fireplace.
