Are these rugs flame-retardant?
They are indeed. The hearth rugs we carry meet or exceed the surface flammability standards that are required by the hearth industry for this type of product. While the rug will be slightly damaged by a hot enough log or ember, the rug is designed to smolder, rather than burn. The material is also engineered to limit the amount of damage from the point of contact with the hot material.

Lovely Rug
When I initially saw this rug, I was skeptical about whether or not it was meant to be placed next to the fireplace or not. It looks absolutely gorgeous. It?s very thick, and looks great in our room. Our fireplace insert doesn?t have a lot of embers making their way out of the fireplace, but I think this rug will hold up very well. I haven?t had to use it with the fire going as of yet, but I think it will be great.

Superior Quality Rug
I was a little shocked by how expensive these fire proof rugs were when I started looking to replace an older one. This one is definitely not very cheap, but I?ve always heard that you do get what you pay for. It?s very heavyweight and made very well. It fits our space perfectly too. The only downside to this rug is that the colors show wood pieces and ashes a lot more than our older one did. We just have to clean up a little more frequently.
