Foil Face FlexWrap is a great insulator at an outstanding value. It consists of special ceramic fibers that resist separation, making it perfect for installations with bends or offsets. When installed, it also helps to center your liner properly in the chimney.

The ceramic blanket is covered with a tough aluminum foil that's 2mm thick for 1/4-in. or 3mm thick for 1/2-in. The foil adds insulating value and makes FlexWrap easy to work with.

To install FlexWrap just wrap in lengthwise on the pipe and secure it with an adhesive. Seal the seams with foil tape and cover it with HomeSaver ArmorMesh.

I have a gas furnace which has a 6 inch stove pipe that runs through the attic, there appears to be some heat loss out of this pipe because I get some ice damns in the winter unless I keep the roof clear of snow. Can this material be wrapped around the stove pipe to help prevent some of the heat escaping into the attic? Are there any fire hazards from doing this?

Answer:
This product is actually designed for insulating flexible fireplace liners, however there would not be an issue with using it to insulate a furnace flue. The b-vent pipe that is typically used to vent a furnace is thicker than a liner, but can sometimes be susceptible to the issue you are having. Insulating it with this product should solve the problem by keep the flue gases warmer.
