Hello, We have a free-standing Wood Stove in our Garage/Workshop which we have used for several years. There is a 8” 90 degree elbow followed by a short straight section, then another 90 degree elbow that turns and goes up toward the roof of the garage. For some reason, the 90 directly above the Woodstove will rust out yearly. I am sure this is because it is directly above the heat source, but would like to know if there is a different type of pipe that will stand up to the heat better? No water enters the Chimney pipe BTW. It is time to replace the 90 and I will likely replace both 90’s and the short straight piece. The vertical chimney outside the garage is in very good condition and I will continue to use it. Do you have any recommendations for the 8” 90 that attaches to the top of the wood stove?

    Answer:
I think you're exactly correct. The heat of the stove is likely causing your elbow to rust out. We have the CPF-73835 elbows available as we do lengths of pipe. This Snap-Lock pipe is available in 12 and 24 inch lengths. You may view our pipe here:

As long as your vertical run of stove-pipe is standard single wall, you should not have any trouble attaching it to what would be your second elbow.
