I have a vented firebox and want to put vent free gas in it. What i want to do is cast a firebrick piece for the top of the firebox to absorb the heat before it goes out the vent pipe, I bought a cap for the vent pipe but would feel better if there was a firebrick ceiling in the box. How many sq ft does a container of your mix do?

    Answer:
Thank you for your patience. I've just conferred again with the manufacturer regarding your request. Your plan is to use this item in quite an unorthodox manner. Theoretically, it would work as this product is rated to withstand 2100 degrees. However, as there is no precedent or manufacturer's recommendation on the application, we cannot advise that you use this product in this way. The easier and safer alternative would be to simply have metal pan fabricated for the top of your fireplace.
