I have an old zero clearance wood burning fireplace that I want to replace with a gas heating fireplace. I do not want an insert as I will be moving the fireplace from floor level up to about 16" above the floor. The existing unit has 3 wall pipe with an 8" diameter inner chimney. What gas unit will I need and can I drop the vents down the existing chimney?

You have a variety of options for a replacement gas fireplace. We recommend reading our Gas Fireplace and Stove Buying Guide
for more information. As for the pipe, you will need to vent the gas unit separate from your existing triple-wall pipe, as each model will require its own dedicated venting system.

This looks like it is slightly different than the 7TCD45KT part that my 36CDVZRRN fireplace calls for. Is there a major difference or would this work for mine too?
