I'm looking for a see-thru fire place that can be used during a power outage. Do you have a back-up battery model? The area I'm looking at for installation is a partition that does not reach the ceiling; the vent would be exposed for nearly three feet before it would go through the ceiling.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on November 27, 2012
Answer:This particular unit does indeed have a battery backup power supply that will allow the control module to operate in the event of a power outage. The unit could also be equipped with painted black direct vent piping, which would lend a more attractive look if the piping must be exposed. Standard unpainted galvanized could be used in the space above the ceiling.

Will the Empire DVVK-4FV vertical vent kit fit this Empire DLCX36SP93 fireplace?
By eFireplaceStore on February 9, 2015

By Steve from San Diego, CA on June 20, 2014
Does this fireplace comes with all the venting for installation? Is this a double sided fireplace? Does the package comes with all venting for a two story house?
By Tyler M. on June 23, 2014
Answer:No, this unit does not include the required venting materials, which you can find in the "Venting Components" tab on this fireplace's item page. Yes, this is a two-sided fireplace. If you would like a quote for the fireplace and the venting components, please reply with your fuel type (natural gas or propane), your choice of surround (all black or stainless steel trim) and approximate lengths of pipe needed and if you will be terminating horizontally or vertically over the roof. If over the roof, please provide your roof pitch measurement. We look forward to your response.

Can this fireplace be run on portable propane bottles? Is there a surface finish suitable for outside use in a salty environment?
By eFireplaceStore on February 9, 2015
Answer:This unit should be fueled by a 20 pound propane tank or larger. Ideally, the tank would be a 40 pound cylinder, but 20 will work for short operations.
This unit is not intended for use with one side against the outdoor elements. If this is to be the case, I highly recommend having a custom enclosure built out of stainless steel and tempered glass that could completely encompass the outside of the unit.

Is this Empire Loft see-through direct vent gas fireplace with RF controls and decorative surround rated for wet conditions; i.e. next to a bathtub? Does the venting for natural gas have to be vented vertically or is to the side an option?
By Will M. on December 2, 2015
Answer:While the appliance is not listed for outdoor use, this can be installed between a bathroom and bedroom. This fireplace can indeed be terminated horizontally, if the positioning of the horizontal exterior wall is located close enough to the fireplace.

Do I have to add (use) the additional metal surround kit if I am using a non combustible surround that is made out of stone?
By eFireplaceStore on November 25, 2014
Answer:The surrounds for this particular model must be used. Not only do they provide a bit of perimeter overlap, but they also serve to cover the mechanics at the top and the bottom of the unit. Without them, the fireplace would appear unfinished. The surrounds can overlap any surrounding stone work, as long as the face of the fireplace itself is flush with the wall.
By Jack from Riva, MD on March 27, 2015
Does this fireplace come complete or do I need to purchase options?
By Brennan W. on March 27, 2015
Answer:You will need to choose a surround from the drop down menu on the item's page, and you will need to purchase the venting components separately, which will be listed under "Venting Components" on the item's page.

How deep is this unit? Can it be put in a standard wall between a bedroom and living room? How much would stick out on each side if it was centered? How big is the flue? Will the blower blow out both sides?
By Brennan W. on December 7, 2016
Answer:This unit is 18" deep, and can be installed in a wall provided you maintain the required 17" framing depth. The flue pipe will be 4" inner diameter, 6 5/8" outer diameter. The blower will indeed circulate heat between both sides.

Is there a spec sheet available? From the image and then looking at unit dims of 39" wide - okay seems likely and 18" deep but the 41 1/8" high? From the image it looks like the glass is 20 some inches high - where are the other 20 inches?
By Magan B. on November 28, 2012
Here is the complete spec sheet
. The the 41 1/8" height includes the concealed manifold and standoffs at the top of the unit. The box itself is 34 3/4". The glass height is 21". You may find this information on page 9 of the manual.

Can the outer trim of this Empire Loft see-through direct vent gas fireplace with RF controls and decorative surround be tiled over? Also, do I have to purchase an additional kit to make this unit see-through?
By Brennan W. on October 14, 2015
Answer:It is not recommended to tile over the front of the unit as this would block access to the controls and service parts located below the fireplace face. This unit comes as a see through fireplace, a kit is not needed.

Are there any issue with mounting a television above the unit?
By Will M. on December 30, 2016
Answer:The manufacturer does not provide any specific television clearances for this fireplace, so a television could not be installed above this particular model with any certainty the television would not be damaged. In general, television clearances are not provided specifically in any product literature for gas hearth systems as there are far too many variables to consider. Television manufacturers use hundreds of different plastics in the manufacturing process and each will have a different temperature limit. Normally, consumers may refer to the mantel clearances that are typically provided for gas hearth systems. However, the manufacturer does not provide any mantel clearances for this model, so this guidance is unavailable. It would be at your own risk to install any television above this fireplace, but if you must, I recommend recessing the television above the fireplace and/or installing a noncombustible mantel shelf in between the fireplace and television.

By eFireplaceStore on January 8, 2015

We are looking at installing a gas fire place into our kitchen in a corner area that is small on an outside wall. We would like something that is maybe 24-30 inches width and have it vent through the outside wall. We were thinking of placing tile or marble around it for decor. What would you suggest?
By eFireplaceStore on November 10, 2014
One of our most popular small corner units is the Napoleon Vittoria Direct Vent Gas Fireplace - 19-in.
. The unit is narrow enough that it can be built into a corner, with the corner wall facing measuring 33 1/2 inches between the adjacent walls. It can also be vented horizontally through the outside wall without an issue.
