How far does the vent need to be from the window or sliding door?

I need to replace a Empire RH-65 that is chimney vented and was looking at this to replace it. Will it work?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on September 9, 2013
Answer:Because the RH65 is a naturally vented heater and the DV55 is a direct vent model, the two units cannot be vented in the same way. The DV55, as with all direct vent room heaters, comes equipped with a horizontal, through the wall vent kit. The unit must be positioned so that this kit can be used. Only another naturally vented room heater could utilize your current chimney setup.

Can this unit be used when there is an electrical power outage?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 3, 2013
Answer:Unfortunately, no. This unit uses a convection blower, induction blower, and hot surface ignitor that all require power to operate. As such, a backup power source would be needed for the unit to operate.

Is this thermostat millivolt (does it depend on electricity to ignite)?
By eFireplaceStore on August 19, 2014
Answer:This unit does use electronic ignition for operation and relies on a 115 volt power source, stepped down to 24 volts. Likewise, it requires the use of a 24 volt thermostat.
