Some spaces need small fireplaces, and some need large fireplaces to look right and complete the room. For a room that needs a large fireplace, there is no fireplace that matches expansiveness with elegance quite like this fireplace from Tahoe. The fireplace features a realistic 13 piece log set and a massive viewing window that displays the dancing flame. A refractory liner coupled with a modern blower system ensures proper air circulation and heat distribution for maximum energy efficiency.

I currently have a Mendotta fireplace that needs to be replaced. Could I just buy the box and use the decorative frame from my Mendotta fireplace. It matches the granite surround.

You may use whatever surround you like with our Tahoe fireplaces. You'll just want to confirm dimensions on that surround. This fireplace features dimensions of 43 3/8" wide by 34 3/4" high.

In reading about the Tahoe Luxury, it states that there is a "Green Earth Preferred RF model" that doesn't have a standing pilot. It also implies that if there is a loss of power, a standing pilot can be lit to allow it to operate without power. Any details on this?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on October 8, 2012
The RF feature does not use a standing pilot until the event of a power outage, when it can be used to operate the unit with no electricity.

In the accessories listed for this fireplace, there are several options for doors. Can this fireplace be operated safely with those doors open? If not, what is the purpose of the doors? I thought I read someplace that they should not be operated with the doors open.
By eFireplaceStore on December 9, 2014
There are indeed doors for this model, but they are not doors in the conventional sense. The doors have a built in mesh screen for safety, but they simply overlay the glass front on the fireplace. When open, the glass front behind them is still in place. The doors would only open for effect.

This was listed on your google site as a propane fireplace, but is shown on your site as natural gas. Is it available as propane?
Do all models have a standing pilot? Why do some models require electricity and others don't?
By Tyler M. on March 21, 2016
No, all models do not have a standing pilot. In fact, most models we sell have both a standing pilot/millivolt version and an electronic ignition/intermittent pilot version. Almost all electronic ignition models also offer a battery back-up for ignition in the event of a power outage. There is also an RF version of this model that includes a full-function remote and pre-installed blower.

What type of fireplaces have doors that open? This model seems different from other fireplaces that I have seen.
By eFireplaceStore on October 31, 2014
All direct vent fireplaces will have a sealed pane of glass that should only be opened when servicing the unit. However, some models will offer door overlays, as is the case with this unit. The door overlays mount to a frame on the face of the unit and they are operable. They use mesh screens instead of glass. The sealed pane of glass will remain in position behind the doors.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
Our new fireplace makes the living room cozy and inviting. We had this installed in our new home and love how it looks!
No mess since it does not use real wood. Produces enough heat and a warm glow in the room.
Does not have the "wood" smell that comes with a wood burning stove. To some this is a negative, but we love the smell of wood.

Great fireplace it does not disappoint, very classy! We recently remodeled our home and added a large great room /kitchen combo. We purchased this fireplace because we did not want the fireplace to be dwarfed by the size and height of the room. We had it professionally installed as a raised hearth and added a mantle and stone. So it does make a dramatic statement in the corner of the room. Fireplace works very well and does heat the room. Living flame is a "must have" for a direct vent fireplace. It really is realistic looking especially if you purchase the burning embers that stay lit after gas is turned off (about 15 minutes). The unit has a large clean front and an interior light. Unfortunately, the manufacturer does need to tweak the length of the interior electrical cord for mounting purposes. The rheostat for the interior light is in the bottom vent area and has a short cord. The bottom grille has to be lowered to turn it on/off. We turn on unit with remote and forget about it, when we remember the grille is just too hot to lower. So needless to say we really don't use the interior light. Maybe it is an easy fix for someone who knows how to rewire and put on a longer cord, but our fireplace installer could not do that. We wanted it mounted on a wall which was about 5' away from bottom grille. The remote control is a wonderful feature, but does need several improvements. It needs brighter light and brighter numbers so it can be used in a darkened room. Also, it should control light in the fireplace which it does not do. Light is a manual feature.
