I have a wood burning f/p and now have a natural gas meter just outside my f/p and would like to change f/p to natural gas and I need guidance .

Answer:

A Direct Vent gas insert such as this would work for your application as long as your pre-fab fireplace is capable of receiving such an appliance. You first should confirm that you have enough space to accept this unit. This insert requires minimum fireplace dimension of 24" W x 17 7/8" H x 16 5/8" D. You then would need a gas line run from your supply to the inside of your fireplace for connection to this insert. Supply pressure should be between 4.5" w.c and 10.5" w.c. If your supply pressure is greater than this, a regulator will need to be installed. From there, you would just need enough space in your chimney to run the requisite dual 3" chimney liners to vent this insert.
