It looks like the control panel with on/off switch is to the side of the box of this Topaz direct vent insert system with tavern brown firebrick but behind the trim. How do you access the controls?

Once the surround has been installed and the controls are shielded, there will be a rocker switch on the right side of the surround trim that will allow you to turn the burner flame off and on. It is recommended to install an optional remote.

Are the fire logs set interchangeable, if for any reason they can't be replaced? Like when they are no longer made for that firebox?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on February 6, 2013
With direct vent fireplaces, the log set that is included with the unit cannot be replaced or exchanged. The direct vent system is meticulously designed and will only work properly with the accompanying burner and log set.
