Can I use this in a corner unit? Do I have to worry about a vertical rise?
By Kevin E. - Fireplace Specialist on January 14, 2013
Answer:There would be no problem employing this kit to vent an appliance installed in a corner. Assuming, of course, the kit is long for the application. Many appliances do require a vertical rise in their vent before terminating horizontally. The appliances installation manual should specify this requirement. Please note, this vent kit is intended for use with only FMI or Vantage Hearth direct vent appliances.

Can I paint the square termination cap to better match the outside of the house?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 3, 2014
Answer:Certainly. High temperature vent pipe or ceramic paint should be used for this purpose. There are many shades on the market in both types that should allow you to closely match the color of your home. Before painting the cap, it should be wiped down with a rag, using a 50/50 mixture of water and vinegar. This will remove any lingering machining oil that could potentially cause the paint not to adhere properly.

Is this kit a good fit for a FMI Model TV 2000 direct vent fireplace? We have a termination cap/pipe that needs replacement.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on January 26, 2012
Answer:According to FMI tech, this unit was manufactured in the early 90's by a proprietary company that built some FMI units.
The unit uses a pair of 5" flexible vents, side by side. They also require a unique firestop and termination. These parts have been discontinued for some time and we currently do not offer anything to replace them, as this type of system is no longer in production.
It will be necessary for a new termination to be fabricated for this unit or to try and find a retailer who still has this specific part in stock.
