I have gas logs. Is there a metal insert or something that I can have installed to stop the cold air when the logs are not on?

Answer:Whether your gas logs are installed in a masonry/brick or manufactured fireplace, a damper would be the ideal solution for your problem. We recommend checking availability of a damper for your unit.
There are many components that can be added to a firebox to enhance its structural integrity as well as its decorative appeal. A metal base provides a fire-resistant foundation for the firebox while at the same time giving it some distance from the floor, and seismic strap kits secure the firebox to the wall so that it does not accidentally fall over. A firebox's visual appeal can be further enhanced by adding a height kit or an arch. Integrating these various components allows you to customize a firebox to suit your style.
