How fire resistant is the polypropylene material of this Goods of the Woods Floral beige half round hearth rug? Can I assume that it has some worthy properties and won't go up in a flash?
The rug meets current surface flammability standards for hearth rugs and pads, meaning that the surface of the rug is fire resistant to a certain point. Polypropylene is a type of plastic based weave that offers high stain resistance, but the lowest resistance to heat damage of the three materials. Polyester offers decent heat resistance, but only fair stain resistance. Olefin is a good compromise, as the material is naturally flame and heat resistant, but still offers decent stain resistance as well.
