This is a beautiful, large wood burning fireplace with a real masonry liner. It comes with a Mosaic Masonry kit with templates for the placement of the individual precut and labeled 2-1/4" wide bricks. The result is a split herringbone pattern that gives a rich, custom look. High temperature mortar is included for your convenience. The hearth of this fireplace is only 1.5" above the ground. The hearth floor is flat all the way to the opening and does not have an ash lip. Other features include a real masonry style damper and smoke chamber and included grate and andirons. Only FMI 12" venting should be used with this fireplace. There is a 25-year limited warranty. The framing dimensions required are 60-5/8" W x 76-1/4" H x 31-3/4" D and the actual firebox dimensions are 48" FW x 33-1/2" BW x 42" H x 24" D.
Can the plantation fireplace be placed on a 12' high hearth or should I go with the Georgian?

Answer:
Indeed you may build up a 12-inch hearth and install this Plantation model. However, please note that you would need to also purchase the 48 Inch Floor Protective Hearth Spacer for it, found here:
