I have a brick wood burning fireplace that was built in the early 60's. I also have gas logs. Does this Gallery Vintage iron glass fireplace door assembly mount to the front surface of the fireplace rather than inside the opening?

Answer:This door assembly does indeed mount to the surface of the masonry surrounding the fireplace opening. Recessed mounts are available via special order, if that is the look you desire.

Can I have a fire with these Gallery Vintage iron glass fireplace door assembly closed? Are the doors made out of pyro-ceramic glass?
By eFireplaceStore on October 26, 2015
Answer:While the doors are not ceramic, these tempered glass doors can indeed be closed while the fireplace is burning. It is important to let them warm gradually by leaving them open for the first 10 to 15 minutes of the burn time. After that, they can be closed and the air gap between each pane will allow cooling and combustion air to be drawn in.

Can this be used with a fabricated gas fireplace or is it only for masonry fireplaces?
By eFireplaceStore on July 3, 2014
Answer:This door assembly can be used with a fabricated fireplace, as long as the surrounding wall is flush with the rest of the unit. The unit must also not have any louvers or grills on the face that will be covered by the door assembly. Lastly, the mounting brackets will need to be modified to attach to the face of the unit.
