My chimney opening measures 28" H x 36" W. I like the bowed black screen but the dimensions are bigger than mine so I was wondering if they have different dimensions. What are the typical dimensions that you have your screens made in? What would work for my chimney that is similar to this bowed black or other (similar) contemporary screens?

Answer:This screen would actually be an excellent choice for the size of your fireplace. Typically, screens will have an overlap of 1 to 3 inches on all sides of the fireplace. The dimensions of your fireplace will allow such an overlap and will prevent any sparks from slipping past the edge of the screen.

We need a fireplace screen/door for a fireplace opening that is 36 inches wide and 29 inches wide. Can you offer guidance?

Answer:I will be happy to assist you in locating the correct screen assembly. By your description, I am assuming you are looking for a screen that has built-in access doors, rather than a screen that you must move to access the fire. Also, is the fireplace 36 inches wide and 29 inches tall or vice versa?

I need a narrow screen. I don't want anything wider than 29"-31". Do you have anything in stock that would work for me?

Can this item be used outside?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 4, 2013
Answer:I do not recommend using this item outdoors as it comes, as the paint is not designed to stand up to the weather. It is possible to coat the product with a high quality outdoor metal paint, which would allow you to use the screen outdoors.

My fireplace is 43 inches wide. Can this screen work?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on December 30, 2013
Answer:This screen is a couple of inches narrower than your fireplace opening. Ideally, a screen will overlap by 1 inch on all sides of your opening. As such, a 45 inch or larger screen would be a better choice.
