This natural gas safety pilot valve kit by Dexen has a capacity of 82,000 BTU with a 175° hi limit switch. It features fuel-saving electronic ignition and uses a low capacity 3V battery. The assembly is 24" long and has an easily-accessible on/off switch that is located on the insulated shield front. The pilot automatically lights when the unit is turned on. Two D-cell batteries can power this unit for an entire year, and it can be operated with a separately purchased remote control, wall switch, or timer.

Will this kit work with a Flame-tec Firebug and allow flame height control?
The firebug could be used in place of a remote or on/off switch. It would take the place of the remote receiver in the wiring diagram supplied with the kit. To my knowledge, there is no way to modify this valve to control the flame height.

This valve will not operate on a fireplace set for 36,000 BTU.

Where can I find the UL rating on this kit?
The gas log set burners and valves would carry ANSI or RADCO listings. Typically the valve and burner would have to be factory assembled to carry these listings.

Love the Dexen MVK-EI Pilot Valve Assembly
This came with more accessories than needed to make it work for any job. I was replacing a valve that had gone bad that used a Pilot light that was on full time and I wanted to have one with electric start. It took no time at all to install and with the fireplace already having power inside it for the fan, I was able to use the 3v Dexen power supply instead of batteries..

The manual is so short not a lot of question can be answered, like what adjustments can be done to the valve.

We love our electronic ignition gas log system!
After trying a standing flame pilot system, we upgraded to the Dexen electronic ignition design and really like it! I had a few installation issues but, with the excellent help of this store's customer service folks, everything was worked out to my satisfaction. Now, with the push of a button, we have a nice fire in just a few seconds. We have only had it for a short time and so far it has been totally reliable. The Dexen MVK-EI electronic ignition pilot system is a good value and I highly recommend it.
