My inspector says I need to install outside air to my fireplace. But the duct connects only to the outside wall of the unit. There is no hole in the inside wall or the firebrick liner panels, so how does this air get into the firebox? Thank you.

Answer:The outside air kit brings air through to the outer sheet metal framing of the fireplace. It is not meant to go directly into the combustion chamber of the fireplace.

I have a new construction masonry fireplace under construction. The fireplace/chimney is located in the center of the house. There is a full basement under this first floor install. Where do I install your Majestic 4 inch diameter air kit ducts vent kit?

Please note that the product in question is made for use with prefabricated wood burning fireplaces and would not be suitable for use with a traditional masonry chimney, however, the location you have described for a masonry chimney is ideal and you may not have issues with draft. With newer homes with tight construction, the home will not exchange air at the rate of older, less-insulated homes and the environment will be starved for combustion and you may experience spillage and other performance-related negative pressure issues. If you experience this, the Condar Air Supply Ventilator
can be installed to naturally pull air in from the outdoors to aid in combustion when negative pressure is sensed.
