I want this to be outside on my deck. Is this the unit I should use?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on September 23, 2013
This unit is technically an indoor fireplace and is not designed to be used outdoors. The unit could technically be painted in a high temperature weatherproof paint, but it would require total disassembly to ensure that all surfaces are painted properly. A stainless steel burner assembly would need to be used to prevent corrosion.
I recommend considering using one of our outdoor fireplaces instead, as they are built from a stainless chassis and will hold up to outdoor air and precipitation. The Patio Fireplaces
section of our website will contain these units.

Can this ventless fireplace be enclosed on both sides, and how do you control the temperature? Do you have to have a gas line to install this ventless fireplace? I have a wall that separates my family room and office and would like to install the ventless fireplace so you can see it on either side, would this unit accomplish that?
By Chris on January 4, 2013
This vent free firebox cannot be enclosed on either side as this would prevent the fire from operating properly. Being that this is only a firebox, no burner assembly or logset is included as shown. To control the temperature would depend on the vent-free logset that you choose to place in the firebox. To install this fireplace properly, you would need to have a rigid gas line run from either an existing natural gas or liquid propane supply. Being that this firebox is a peninsula design, it is open on three sides. You would need to find a see through firebox or fireplace such as the Breckenridge Premium Vent-Free See-Thru Flush Gas Firebox

How large of a space will this fireplace heat?
By Tyler M. on August 4, 2014
Answer:This item is a vent-free firebox only and does not include a burner or log set. As such, the amount of heat generated will depend on whatever ventless gas burner you choose to install inside of this unit. This box can accept most of our see-thru (two-sided) ventless gas log sets. If you reply with a shipping zip code and confirm your fuel type (natural gas or propane), we can offer some suggestions and quote you a package accordingly. If so, please also include your preference of control--manual, wall switch or remote control.

Can this be an electric fireplace?
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on May 30, 2012
Unfortunately, no, this can only be used as a vent-free fireplace when a ventless gas log set is added to this box. For our selection of electric fireplaces, please click here
