Will this switch work with Majestic models DBDV36IN and DBDV36IL?
Per Majestic, it would work but it would only turn the unit on and off and would not operate any other features.

What makes this a millivolt switch? Are the contacts special?
The difference will be in the low voltage wiring included with this wall switch, in addition to the nickel plated contacts. A basic wall switch may work initially, but would provide too much resistance and lead to intermittent operation of your hearth over time.

No, this wall switch is only meant for operating a millivolt fireplace valve.

Does the Job
Nothing fancy here. I'm not mechanically inclined but had this installed and working in 10 minutes tops.
I bought this to replace our more complicated, poorly built ambient thermostat wall switch/remote when the flimsy switch broke off. Not much to break on this one!
