I just purchased gas logs for a Fireplace and am looking at this type of unit for another room. I have seen some of these types of units with a thermostat. Does this unit have one? Or do any other models have one?

Can you vent this or any Napoleon vent free stove? I'm not sure about the idea of carbon monoxide issues that could be associated with a vent free set up.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on October 8, 2013
Answer:Because the Napoleon vent free stoves are designed without any sort of flue collar, there is not a way to effectively vent them. While it is true that even a properly maintained stove will release trace amounts of CO, the amount is no more than you are exposed to in traffic or when burning an open fire. If the stove is properly cleaned on a yearly schedule and set up properly, there is not a danger of using the appliance.

How do I get a more yellow flame? It's currently an 80% bluish color.
By Tyler M. - Fireplace Specialist on October 23, 2012
If the flame color is still blue after 15-30 minutes of operation, you may need to call a qualified technician to service the unit. Information regarding this model's orientation and adjustment can be found on page 16 of the owner's manual

After years of use, the pilot will not stay lit. What could be the problem? I have plenty of propane, the tanks are on an auto fill program.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on February 5, 2013
Answer:It is possible that the gas valve and pilot assembly require service. If the unit has not been cleaned recently, I highly recommend having a technician service the unit. The pilot assembly, as well as the air shutter and burner orifice, require a yearly cleaning. Dust and lint can build up in these components, causing pilot failure and lower BTU output.
If the unit has been cleaned recently, the pilot assembly is likely defective. This is the most common part to fail and requires periodic replacement.

If I purchase this stove it will be on a hard wood floor. Do I need some type of protection for my floor?
By Kevin E. - Fireplace Specialist on May 1, 2012
Answer:As long as the stove is installed on a wood floor, it will not need any floor protection. This information can be found on page 6 of the installation manual.
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on May 1, 2012
Answer:Napoleon does not require any floor protection for this stove. They only specify clearances to adjacent walls, which are covered in detail in the product manual.
