    Customer Questions & Answers
By Daniel from Denver, CO on March 11, 2015
Can this fireplace be converted to use gas?
    By Brennan W. on March 11, 2015

    Answer:
This unit does indeed have a gas knockout that will allow for the installation of an outdoor gas log set.

By Ken from Houston, TX on October 26, 2015
Does this Mirage Stone see through outdoor woodburning fireplace stone surround have to be covered with any other material? Do the pieces lock in place or is there glue/mortar or some other substance that is used? Does it look like the photo when it's assembled?
    By Will M. on October 27, 2015

    Answer:
This product is pieced together with no mortar, as described in the installation manual. The stone does not need to be covered, but this can be done via construction adhesive that is rated for outdoor use. Lastly, the item would need to be ordered in copper to be exactly as the picture shows, but yes, the item will appear as shown in the picture, once assembled.
By Deneice from 29 Palms, CA on October 27, 2015

    Answer:
We recently purchased this fireplace and love it. It doesn't need to be covered in any other material and the pieces lock together sort of like assembling giant lego blocks. We built a cinderblock and paverstone bench to add about 12 more inches of height and then assembled the fireplace on top of it. Yes it looks exactly like the photo. It took my husband and son about two hours to put together and they took their time.

By Toni from Mandeville, LA on March 16, 2014

By Toni from Mandeville, LA on March 16, 2014

Is this product vented? If so, is there a ventless option?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on June 13, 2012

    Answer:
This product comes from the manufacturer configured for vented gas logs or for a wood burning application. It is possible to use vent free logs in this unit, but they would need to be purchased separately and then installed on site.

Please keep in mind that all of the Mirage Stone units must have the chimney section in place, so some heat from the log set would still escape from the chimney termination.

By Rick from New Orleans, LA on January 11, 2015
Can you use this fireplace as a barbecue pit?
By eFireplaceStore on January 12, 2015

It can indeed. The manufacturer at one time did offer a barbeque rack that could be installed in this model, which has since been discontinued. However, installation of a custom rack is still an option.

By Patrick from bowie maryland on February 29, 2016
On the gas version, does it have to be hooked up by a professional or is it as simple as hooking up to a propane tank?
    By Will M. on March 1, 2016

    Answer:
Most all gas hearth systems will require the installation be performed by a qualified professional and the gas version of this fireplace is no exception.

Appropriate pressure is provided by proper pipe sizing and tank location and the is something that needs to be performed by a legally qualified professional for both warranty and safety.

Can this fireplace be used with glass sides instead of screens or can it be used without any screens or glass? Can it be installed in a covered outdoor patio area where the ceiling is 10' high?
By Collin C. - NFI Master Hearth Professional on May 6, 2013

    Answer:
For safety and air intake reasons, the manufacturer screens must be left in place on this unit and glass cannot be used in place of them. The manufacturer does not recommend placing this unit beneath a covered patio, unless an opening is made in the patio ceiling would allow smoke to escape. The hole would need to be approximately double the area of the chimney.

This would depend on the structure of your porch. This weight of this fireplace is 960 pounds.

If this fireplace is "stone surround", how must the stone be applied? With mortar?

The cast stone that this product is manufactured from is very conducive to being covered with noncombustible material of your choosing. You will need to utilize a construction adhesive and mortar that is rated for outdoor applications. Some silicate based mortars deteriorate rapidly outdoors.

I would recommend this item to a friend.
The fireplace arrived all in one sturdy box. The way it was packaged was well thought out and, to me, showed that the company really knew what they were doing and paid attention to detail. Total assembly was about 2 hours for just my son and I and we were taking our time. It's even nicer than the website pictures and looks great on our patio. I have been recommending the eFireplace store to all of our friends. If you are thinking about buying one of these fireplaces, I can say that you definitely will not be disappointed.
