The Superior DRL4543 Linear Direct Vent fireplace is truly a fireplace for all seasons! With its elegant bed of translucent glass stones and halogen lighting system - totally commanded by the unit's hidden controls and versatile remote control - the Superior offers an amazing light-and-shadow presentation that's beautiful even when the natural gas or liquid propane fireplace itself is not in use.
Yet the Superior' greatest strength may lie in its versatility. Special conversion kits (see Accessories tab above) allow you to reconfigure the fireplace itself into single-sided or see-thru variations. And the special outdoor conversion kit lets you take the Superior outdoors, to bring its light and warmth to an entirely new setting!
The fireplace burns up to 35,000 BTU's, too, providing plenty of warmth.
Venting Requirements: This item requires a chimney with 4.5" inner diameter.
Please Note: Both the LDSTIB and LSDSTOB conversion kits are required to complete the outdoor use configuration. Please see Accessories tab below to purchase the necessary conversion kits (sold separately.)

What is the clearance needed above the fireplace between it and a mantle? When using a mantle what is the distance requirement between the fireplace and a TV?
You can see the mantel clearance requirements on page 10 of the installation manual here.
For a television, we would recommend adhering to the mantel clearances and installing the television above the mantel.

The current AFUE rating on this appliance is 45.91 for Natural Gas and 42.15 when using LP (Propane).

When installed as a one-sided unit, the gas and electric connections will be on the left hand side of this fireplace when looking at the front.
