I just spoke to my building inspector in Los Angeles. He said I can use any fireplace on my patio as long as it has an UL approval. I don't see anything about a UL listing on this fireplace. Does it have UL approval?
By Owen on March 1, 2017
Answer:This product has been tested to the ANSI (American National Testing Standards), the standard to which UL (a private company) uses. It is outlined on page 4 in the owner's manual.

Can this Superior VRE4042 Custom series 42" full view paneled outdoor vent-free firebox be used indoors and does it come with the stone work as well?
By Chris C. on September 10, 2015
Answer:This firebox can indeed be installed in an indoor installation, and it will include the refractory liners that are seen on the left, right, and back sides inside the fireplace. The custom stonework and hearth are not a part of this kit, as this is a method to show the firebox once installed.

I was interested in buying an outdoor ventless fire place inserts. Can tell me what the difference is between the Superior VRE4042 Custom Series 42" full view and the Superior VRE4542 Custom Series 42" paneled outdoor fireboxes?
By eFireplaceStore on February 25, 2015
Answer:Both systems are stainless steel and intended for outdoor use, but the VRE4542 is a much larger unit. The VRE4042 measures 23 inches deep and has a 29 inch tall opening, while the VRE4542 is 32 inches deep with a 30 inch tall opening. The VRE4542 also adds a large "smoke chamber" inside the opening, giving the unit a much more authentic appearance.

Is this a free standing unit? Can it withstand the elements such as snow, freezing rain, etc.?
By eFireplaceStore on December 16, 2014
Answer:This product can be installed into a free standing fireplace enclosure, but the box itself is not finished on the back, top, and sides. As such, a small enclosure that is at least as tall, deep, and wide as the unit would need to be built. The firebox itself is constructed of durable 304 stainless steel. It will stand up well to the outdoor elements.
