I am interested in purchasing 2 of these peninsula wood burning fireplaces and have some questions. First in the pictures displayed of this product One shows a substantial amount of the charcoal trim around fireplace and the other shows only a little and it appears as if marble was mounted to the charcoal trim? Is it possible during installation to conceal some of the charcoal trim? Second, if you hook up to gas with the intention to use gas only, is there a way to put glass or rocks in the fireplace rather than fake logs?

The unit will indeed have a significant upper brow of metal showing from the factory, however this upper brow and lower footing can be covered with noncombustible material for a cleaner looking installation, as with the second photo.
It is indeed possible to use fire glass or ceramic stones in place of a log set. Many products exist that use a flat pan burner system that facilities the use of such alternate media. One such product is the Real Fyre 24" PBA Vented Natural Gas Fire Glass Burner with Safety Pilot Kit
