Is the UniFlame Beige and Black Half-Round Wool Hearth Rug shown above considered fireproof? The pad that the wood stove sits on is not quite 16 inches in front of the opening and the installer and inspector said a "fireproof" rug would solve the problem.

Answer:These hearth rugs are designed to only protect the surface in front of a fireplace or stove in case an ember or log was to roll out of the appliance. The rug will not smolder more than 3 inches from the point of contact with a burning log or ember.

Answer:This rug weighs 4 pounds. Compared to other material used in hearth rugs, olefin and wool with be the two best choices for resiliency and holding their color and would be my recommendations if you are looking for a plush hearth rug.
