I am interested in this item. My fireplace is an odd size (the house was built in 1948). The fireplace opening is 23" H by 28.5" W, and the brick is 30.25" H by 42.5" H, then there is a wood mantle and enclosure, etc. Do I need to buy a screen that fits exactly within the brick area, or can I purchase something larger than the 30.25" x 42.5", which would leave the screen touching the wood?

Answer:You are not limited to a screen that only encompasses the brick. As long as the screen is tall enough and wide enough to cover the physical opening, you can have additional overlap.

It mentions support on screen goes out 8 inches, is that front and back?
By Kevin E. - Fireplace Specialist on January 17, 2013
Answer:The 8" measurement describes the projection of the support legs out from the screen body.
