Cast iron and porcelain coated steamers and kettles are the perfect accessories for your wood burning stove. Burning wood creates a dry atmosphere so adding humidity to your living space is easy with a kettle or steamer. Besides making steam, they can make a great cup of tea or hot chocolate to enjoy by the warmth of your stove. Trivets can withstand high temperatures up to 300 degrees F and make a great spot for cooking on your wood stove.

I purchased an old potbelly iron stove, and I'm planning on placing it on my deck. What should I use to place on the deck under stove to protect the deck from heat?

I recommend using a type 2 hearth board, which will have a built in layer of insulating material to help dissipate heat before it reaches the deck. An example is the Hy-C 36-inch x 36-inch Type 2 UL1618 Black Stove Board. Depending on the size of the stove, you may need a larger or smaller board, but this will give you an idea of the appearance and price.
