The manufacturer provides a 50 pound box of lava rock that is designed to be used as a base for the burner trough, which is then designed to be covered with 25 pounds of fire glass.

We're building an outdoor living room, open on two sides but with a vaulted ceiling that is no lower than 11'-11 1/2'. We will have a wall that's standard frame construction, but covered with cement backer board under thin set mortar under Ledgestone. Since the wall is covered in a noncombustible surface, can a fire pit be installed in front of it? Or do I still need to maintain a 48" clearance from the burner to the wall?
    1 Answers
Due to the intense amount of heat that this unit is capable of producing, I would advise against installing the unit less than 48" away from a vertical surface. The manufacturer strictly advises against installing the appliance under an overhang or ceiling despite the height of the ceiling or overhang.
