I have a Majestic propane gas stove with a glass front approx. 20 yrs now. The pilot has started to drop out for no apparent reason. Would I be better off to replace with a new stove or replace the thermocouple?
A thermocouple replacement is a simple job for a qualified gas fitter such as a plumber. Alternately, you can try to clean the thermocouple and see if that fixes the issue. Your thermocouple is likely not recognizing the pilot flame which is causing it to go out. You will want to clean the thermocouple with a piece of emery cloth or high grit (1000) sandpaper. This may resolve the issue.

I had the same problem with my majestic stove of 20 yrs and I cleaned the thermocouple with emery cloth . I also had some carbon built up in the area , cleaned that up as well and my stove returned to functioning fine now .
