I am trying to buy the right glass cleaning fluid for my Naploeon EPI3C wood burning stove. Is it ceramic glass or tempered glass? Do you have a suggested glass? It seems to get very black very quickly. Also, it takes about an hour for the blower to turn on Should it take that long?
This unit utilizes ceramic glass. The blower can take that long depending on how quickly the stove gets hot.
What is the maximum burn time and the maximum log length?
The burn times will vary based on various conditions (wood type, moisture content, outside temperature, installation etc.), but you should expect a 7-9 hours burn time. The unit can accept logs up to 19".
Can this insert be used in a zero-clearance fireplace?
This may only be installed in a zero-clearance wood burning fireplace when the manufacturer of that zero-clearance fireplace does not specifically prohibit the installation of a solid fuel burning insert.
I just purchased the EP13 and had it installed. I am not hearing the blower operate.
The blower will be very quiet while in operation, but you will need to ensure that the fire has been going anywhere from 15 to 30 minutes for the thermal switch to activate, allowing the blower to cycle on. Please note that the length of time needed to activate this switch will increase or decrease, depending on the intensity of the fire. Additionally, you will need to open the door and make sure the rheostat knob is adjusted to the On position.

Most Helpful Answer
Speaking from experience it can take upwards of 60 minutes for the blower to activate. This is excessive in my opinion and allows useful heat to travel up the chimney. This time frame is actually stated in the manual. Unfortunately this unit does not allow to manual operate the blower
PS - If you want to make sure the thermal disc is working (make sure switch/dial is on) take a blow dryer and face it above the variable speed switch (dial). Hold it there for a good 30 seconds and than close the door. If the blower does not turn on than there's an issue with your thermal disc or possibly blower

What size log can it burn and is this unit flush with the fireplace? Also what is the EPA efficiency?
The max log size of this woodburning insert is 18" in length. Yes, the insert achieves a flush installation into an existing fireplace; you can see this illustrated on page 5 of the owner's manual. The insert is EPA certified; it tested at a 2.6 G/Hr emission rate and with an EPA-estimated efficiency of 63%.
