Can I use a remote control with this unit? If so, do you have one available?
A remote certainly can be used with this model of fireplace. Napoleon offers both the F45 On/Off remote and the F60 Thermostatic Remote.
As the names imply, the F45 will allow basic on and off operation of the fireplace, while the F60 allows you to program a specific temperature.
The remote control won't turn the fireplace on/off - batteries checked in remote and in unit. Fireplace can manually be turned on.
We cannot find an order under your email address, and, seeing that you are in Canada, it is very likely you did not purchase from us.
As such, please verify the model remote control you have. Assuming you have a Napoleon remote, either an F40, F50 or F60, please be sure to check the following possible issues:
1. Be sure not only to check that the batteries are fully operational, but also that they are installed correctly. We have had this issue several times before. You may want to try another new set of batteries in the transmitter and receiver.
2. Please make sure the receiver is wired correctly. The instructions for a Napoleon remote will likely instruct you to wire it into the valve. However, this unit has an electronic ignition, and your remote will be wired differently. Specific illustrated instructions can be found in your owner's manual.
3. Finally, be sure to try to re-program the remote in accordance with the instructions. Many times Napoleon has received what were considered "defective" remotes back, and, upon re-programming them, found that there was nothing wrong with the remote, it just needed to be reprogrammed.
We hope one of these steps results in a solution. If you do not have a Napoleon remote, please let us know what kind you do have. Also, if none of the above steps solve your problem, we encourage you to contact your local dealer and look into warranty coverage and a possible replacement.
