Monitoring your stove's burn temperature is the best way to maximize its performance, and with this Rutland magnetic wood stove thermometer doing so couldn't be simpler. And, in addition to reading the temperature, this thermometer's easy-to-read enamel face also warns you when your stove is in danger of overheating or burning too low and increasing the likelihood of creosote build-up.

What is the optimal temperature the stove should be?
    1 Answer
For non-catalytic stoves, the thermometer should read 400 to 500 degrees for optimal temperature range. Catalytic stoves will usually operate a bit cooler and will range from 350 to 450 under optimal conditions.

Would this work accurately on a charcoal bbq pit?
    1 Answer
This could indeed be used in this sort of application. The thermometer face would simply need to be protected from the heat of the fire. Also, it is designed for indoor use. So, leaving it out to suffer mother nature may have negative effects on the face of the thermometer.

    Accurate, but Faulty Magnet
We have tested the accuracy of this thermometer, and it does the job well. The only complaint we?ve had is that the magnet stopped sticking to the side of the stove. We just lay it on top of the stove now, but it would be nice if the magnet had lasted longer.

    Accurate and Easy To Read
This one is pretty easy to read and even is a little larger than the competition. I put it and a similar model from another company in the oven for a while, and they read almost the exact same thing when they came out. I?ve been using this thermometer for several months now, and I really like it a lot.
