How do the two sections of the Security pipe go together? Do they just connect to each other, one going into the other, or is there a connecting adapter required? Can the pipe be cut to shorten the length?

Yes, the Security double-wall stovepipe lengths twist-lock together for a secure connection; no additional band/joint is required. No, because each end of each pipe length has these twist-lock connections, the pipes cannot be cut.
