Minuteman 23 Inch Hopewell Fireplace Fireback

The high relief Colonial design dated 1772 is very appealing aesthetic on several levels. The fireback is a heavy solid castiron which is good, but an owner also needs to consider that strength and care needs to be used when handling and placing in the hearth. In addition to absorbing the heat which can be radiated back into the room for better efficiency, the fireback also protects the inside of the hearth from wear and tear. Cast iron feet can also be used to support the fireback in the hearth to some advantage, but not absolutely necessary. I suspect my piece could easily last many decades with minimal deterioration or evidence of wear.

We love the fine detailing of the fireback and how it protects the back of the fireplace. But for producing more heat, we havent noticed any difference yet. Its possible well notice a difference once the weather gets colder.

We got this fireback for my dad, who loves US history. Their fireplace is large and doesnt seem to heat the room like it should. We think the fireback will keep the heat from escaping through the chimney, and radiate it back into the room. Plus, we love the historical reference to Hopewell Furnace, its perfect for my history-buff dad!

We were surprised by how much larger and heavier the cast iron fireback was. We are very pleased by how much heat it throws off. The heat does cause the fireback to become discolored but it works very well.

I got a tip from my cleaning person that this product might help the fireplace produce more heat. And thats exactly what it does! I am very impressed.
