The Pennsylvania Firebacks Hereford Stove Plate Reproduction Fireback is part of Pennsylvania Fireback's line of reproduction of famous furnace and stove plate designs. The Hereford Stove Plate was originally cast at the Hereford Furnace under the supervision of it's owner, William Maybury, whose initials are on the plate.
The Pennsylvania Firebacks Hereford Stove Plate Reproduction Fireback, like all Pennsylvania Firebacks, is hand-made of 100% solid cast iron in the USA. This high-quality fireback serves several purposes in your fireplace. The decorative aspect adds visual interest to the fireplace and provides a perfect backdrop for either a log fire or gas logs. Perhaps more importantly, the fireback provides insulation to the fireplace and protects the masonry from damage, saving you costly repairs in the future. Firebacks additionally help radiate the fire's heat outwards into the room, creating more focused and efficient heating for the home.

Great fireback and service
I was very hesitant to order this fireback over the internet. I did some research while looking the different firebacks and realized that I did not want the chinese made firebacks since they are not as thick, and decided that i wanted a fireback from Pennsylvania firebacks. When i went to my local fireplace store i was able to view this fireback in person and it looked just like the pictures show above. When asked if they could match the prices from this site the sales person tried, but ultimately came back with "I am sorry we can not match that price". I cam home and ordered this fireback right away. Within a few days (much sooner than I expected) the fireback had arrived and was in perfect condition. I would also recommend ordering the feet for the fireback. They allow you to keep the fireback pushed back further in the fireplace.
