Beautiful - but
I have used two of these now - I love the look of the fireback and it looks great with use, until it cracks. Apparently if you burn hardwood fires (we are in GA, it's all anyone around here uses, in the house anyway) these cast iron backers are not the way to go. The first one cracked within a month and was replaced, the second one did the same - I didn't bother trying to get a replacement. It sounds like if you have hot fires you safest bet is stainless steel - not so pretty but I guess that is what we will have to go with.

Adds Character
The American Eagle fireback is not only a solid, heavy-duty piece of cast iron; it is also a truly charming piece of art. It has added character and design to my fireplace, and the eagle emblem is a nice visual focal point. The craftsmanship is outstanding. This is a great addition to my fireplace set.

I'mproves Heat Output
I am very impressed with this fireback. It greatly improved the heat output from my fireplace, as well as reducing the amount of cold air drawn in through the chimney. Unfortunately I only got to use it once before the warmer weather moved in. I like the look (and price) of this piece and am very happy with my purchase. I was also impressed with the customer service.

Best Price and great quality
Same item as posted by other sites but this was the best price and the shipping was excellent. Timely delivery and looks great. Cannot wait to use it and experience the difference of a fire with a fireback versus no fireback. Burned a fire for 7 days straight after the Southern California windstorms knocked out our power for 7 days. I think this will help project the heat into the room more and add some efficiency to the fireplace...if that is possible.

Great Purchase
I purchased this fireback to protect the back wall of my fireplace, and it is exactly what I was hoping for. I measured my fireplace before I ordered to make sure I got the right size, and the piece fits perfectly. The American eagle design is attractive; it also radiates more heat from the fireplace which is a nice bonus. I am very pleased!
