The American Panel 36 x 36 Original Edge Type 2 Hearth Board offers a fantastic way to finish your fireplace area. It's built tough with extruded, tubed aluminum that gives it serious strength. You'll find it's about 30% lighter than other hearth pads, making it a breeze to handle. This hearth board also boasts a significantly higher R-Value than other substrates, meaning it's pretty good at keeping things thermally efficient. Plus, it lays down a great surface for tiling, providing excellent tile bonding characteristics without needing any tricky air pockets for its thermal value.
Please Note: Current tile offerings are subject to change, and the actual color of tile may vary from the product picture.
Also Note: Item provides both thermal and ember protection as a Type 2 stove board.

Would this board be suitable protection for my Comfortbilt HP21 freestanding pellet stove?
We are not a Comfortbuilt dealer but you can locate the floor protection by clicking here. It is located on page 9 and states that you only need ember protection which is a Type I board. You will also want to check with your local building inspector to make sure you are installing per your local code.
