While it offers good protection against the elements, the product specifications do not explicitly state that the hinges are watertight. Regarding your question about making it larger, the lid is currently available in a standard 44-inch size (44" W x 44" D), with options for either a round or square shape. We do not offer custom sizing to make the lid larger.
