Does this remote need electric power to operate? Will stove work when power is out?
This remote is battery-operated. Many stoves will still operate the burner's on/off function when there is a power outage. Accessories such as fans and/or lights will not work without 110v power.

What is required to add this remote to my Buck Stove Hepplewhite Steel Vent Free Gas Stove?
This remote will include a receiver box. The receiver box will be wired to the millivolt valve on the stove, and the transmitter will then sync to the receiver to allow you to operate the stove. The remote will include installation/syncing instructions.

I recommend seeing if the same issue happens when operating the system via the receiver by moving the receiver slide switch to the On position.
