I have a 13 x 17 flue and I have propane gas logs in the fireplace that are not vent free. Can I use this 8 x 8 damper along with an aluminum adapter plate for my chimney?
1 Answer
Lock-Top, the manufacturer strongly prohibits the use of their products on chimneys servicing gas log sets. The risk of accidentally leaving the damper closed while the gas log set is in operation is too great.
How are these dampers attached to the chimney? Also, how hard is it to install?
1 Answer
This damper assembly can be installed by securing it to the chimney crown with construction adhesive or by drilling through the mounting flange and into the concrete wash, allowing you to install anchors and mounting screws.
The installation using construction adhesive is very simple, but can make removing the damper difficult down the road.
