Will this fit over a 13 x 13-inch cap?
The standard 13"x13" chimney caps often will not allow enough height to open the damper assembly fully. It is recommended that the damper be purchased with a cap combination.

While not required, we would recommend the Lock-Top 13 in. x 13 in. Sweep's Ring for easier cleaning of the flue.

Worthy Investment
Our old chimney had a built-in damper that had been broken for years. As a result, cold air was allowed to enter the house via the chimney, and our entire home was always freezing in the winter. Once I realized it was broke, I did some research and realized I could install a top-side damper. I called efireplace and spoke with a specialist who was able to recommend the Lock-Top Damper, and also provided some instructions on how to install. The product arrived within a couple days, and the install was pretty straight forward. Since the Lock-Top Damper was installed, I've noticed the house has been significantly warmer, ever without using the fireplace of furnace. I would highly recommend this product.

Easy and effective
My old damper was aging making my living room drafty. The new damper glued with the included silicone extremely easily. The damper pulls down and seals tight and is quick to spring open when you want it to. No more drafty living room.

EAsy installation, really fast delivery!
After I placed the order I think the box was delivered in 3, maybe 4, days. I was surprised at that. It's a big but not heavy package.
The damper itself went on easily. I used a wire brush to clean some soot/creosote off of the clay flue liner and then used the supplied silicone to lay a bead around the entire circumference of the liner. Use the whole tube, don't skimp. If it looks like you used too much it's probably just right. After uncoiling the cable and dropping it down the flue just set the damper in place. Line it up so it's square and even and give it a push to settle it into the silicone. Take a break, wait a day and then finish the job inside the firebox.
A note on uncoiling the cable: get it uncoiled at the start of the process. Mine got into a tangle while I was on the roof so I had to sit down and get the loops undone. Added a few minutes to the whole process and was a bit frustrating. You don't need to be frustrated while on your roof.
My only concern is the longevity of the silicone holding the damper to the flue liner. Time will tell.
I think it will be a good addition to my fireplace.
