Why does it state "not recommended for gas logs" when it's warranted for ALL FUELS?
The product is approved for all fuels, but there is an issue with using it with a vented set of logs. All vented log sets require a damper clamp or lock. With this type of damper , there is no way to install a damper clamp and is a safety risk.

Better draft and reduces heat loss
My experience has been that the Lock top chimney damper provided an easier user friendly method of control with the open and close handle installed in a visible location on the side of the firebox. Traditional dampers with the poker handle often dislodge and are out of sight so you don't know if it is closed or open, which can cost you heat loss or even blow back of smoke into your room.
