Do I also need a sweeps ring with this or does the adapter also act as a sweeps ring?

Per the manufacturer, the adapter does indeed act as a sweeps ring, as it can be easily pulled from the prefab stack for service of the chimney system.

What is the length of the pipe portion that extends into the flue for this 10 inch RS Adaptor?

Per the manufacturer, the adapter will extend just short of 5 inches into the flue.
