This is a chimney cap and damper combo kit by Lock-Top II. The base on this chimney cap is 8 in. x 8 in., and arrives fully assembled. This combo is constructed with stainless steel and cast aluminum, giving it long-lasting strength and durability. The cap is covered with 3/4 in. stainless steel mesh to keep small pests, and debris out of your chimney. This combo kit includes sweeps ring, silicone sealant, 30 ft. stainless steel cable, and all the hardware-and allows you to take control of your flue system and energy bills-because now you control the damper.

Please Note: Do not use dampers with gas logs. Failure to open could cause carbon monoxide to back up into your home. In case of a gas leak, gases could become trapped in the flue, resulting in an explosion

This cap includes a sweeps ring, which is an adapter that is mounted to the chimney flue, then allowing the cap to screw to the ring. When cleaning is required, the cap can be quickly unscrewed from the ring and set aside.

It is not recommended to use this damper cap with a gas log set. This is a result of safety concerns. Top-mounted dampers are easy to forget about and if the log set is operated with the damper closed, harmful byproducts can back up into the home.
