Top of your chimney with a chimney cap from HomeSaver's Pro Guardian Chimney collection. Fitting both solid-pack and relined flues, this chimney cap slides into either flue with a tight friction fit. This 11-inch cap is made of 304-alloy. However, should your building be located in a marine environment, the 316-alloy version is recommended to provide better corrosion resistance. The stainless steel chimney cap will be mailed to you pre-assembled to ensure greater ease of installation. |

How far into the existing flue pipe does the storm cap enter...looks to be 1/2 - 3/4 inch or does it clamp onto the existing pipe?
1 Answer
Most of the 4 5/8" tall base will fit inside the flue. It is a tension fit. The base is slightly wider at the bottom and has a seam that overlaps itself. You compress it slightly to insert it into the chimney.
The rolled edge at the bottom improves the tension of the cap by helping the base hold its shape.

Nicely engineered product
We have not had an occasion to burn in our stove at this time, but the construction of this chimney cap and ease of installation is all very good. At this point I am fully satisfied with my purchase.
Design makes for quick and secure installation.
I would have appreciated an instruction sheet on how to install the cap because I had never done such a replacement before.

8" Chimney cap
The chimney cap was an excellent fit for the metal chimney flue. I had to rebuild the entire top of the chimney an there were 3 different diffuser pipes that had to be covered and joined together. The 8" cap enabled me to do that with perfection. The client was totally satisfied with the end result too and that makes it even better. A great fit and a great product. as was advertised!
