If applied correctly as per the instructions during the initial process, a re-coat will not be necessary that soon.

The info says that the color is milky white, does it dry that color or clear? Also, my fireplace is a natural stone, which product do you recommend, water-based or solvent?

This product dries clear, however, it may leave a "shiny appearance" to the stone.  I would recommend the water-based formula and cover the area around the area that will be treated to prevent any overspray.

How do you apply it?
Per the manufacturer's recommendation, this product should not be applied via a brush. The manufacturer highly recommends application via a pump sprayer of some sort, as this will yield the best results.

Can you apply chimney saver over a painted chimney and then paint over the sealer?
Per the manufacturer, it would not work and you can either just repaint the chimney or remove the paint and apply a repellent.

ChimneySaver Water Repellent That Resists Water Absorption

We applied this water repellent to our chimney, and it has held up well in the rain and snow. It was easy to apply and has kept our chimney looking new. I recommend buying the end piece separately to hook a line in case it falls.

Extension Rod gets the Job Done

My Worcester Kleen Flue chimney brush came with three 4-ft extension rods, but I needed more length to reach the bottom of my chimney. This 6-ft extension rod provided the extra length. I added a drop of 3-in-1 oil to the threads to make installation easier.
