*Venting Requirements: This unit requires venting pipe with an inner diameter of 6 Inches. Please see the Venting Components section on this page if available for venting pipe that must be used with this unit. When installing a stovepipe for your stove, it can sometimes be difficult to join the pipe to the stove. This Dura-Vent Stovepipe Adaptor is the solution to this problem. It mates Dura-Black stovepipe to most stoves and allows for about 1/8" difference in size. It is constructed of 24-gauge steel with spot-welded seams. It also includes a damper section to allow you to regulate air flow. This pipe is 6" in diameter and requires 18" of clearance from combustible items. A 5-year warranty is included with your purchase of this adapter. |

Can this damper be mounted on top of the stove? Or, should it be located 12 inches above the stove?

It can be placed anywhere in the connector pipe. Check with the maker of the stove to make sure they recommend using a hand damper.

I have a 6" damper adapter. The pin that holds the damper in snapped off. All I want is the damper and pin, not the entire item. Is that possible?

Damper section
This piece works very well and controls heat loss. It is also very easy to install. The only issue I have is that sometimes the little handle on the damper gets hot.

Not Well Constructed but Does the Job
The damper does the job. Though I think the construction is inadequate, I found that it does what it needs to do when the stove?s exhaust pipe is set up correctly.
