Customer Q&A with Product Specialists

Bob from Sullivan County NY asked:
Do you pack insulation around the pipe to fill air voids?
Do you pack insulation around the pipe to fill air voids?
The chimney pipe will fit snugly as it passes through the wall thimble. Inside the wall, the thimble will be framed in. Insulation can only be installed outside of this framework. The exterior half of the wall thimble should be sealed against the house with waterproof sealant. You'll also use high temperature sealant to seal between the thimble and the chimney pipe on the outer wall.
